7 Days: Day 1

Day 1

Similar shot here.

This weekend we celebrate Solstice. Tonight we listened to the story, "A Visit to Mother Winter’s House" as retold in Circle Round. We then made Mother Winter’s house together (thanks to a kit from Trader Joe’s, that is). Finally, Margie and I made some candles out of beeswax I had bought at the local Waldorf school (there were slight hysterics when she shoved her finger full of peppermint essential oil into her eye, but I am pretty sure she won’t go blind or anything). We then had a short but meaningful ceremony where we lit the candles, said a verse and chimed my kickass new table chime.

Tomorrow we rise before the dawn to meet some friends in the park and watch the sun rise – the days get longer from here on out! Hopefully we’ll hit Elaine’s party tomorrow and also sleep a whole lot.

Happy Yule!
